Hi, I saw a news story that the Nintendo DSi shop will shut down in a year:

I am not really into the DS scene, I was wondering if there were efforts to ensure everything from the DSi shop is being preserved. I wouldn't want this to turn out to be something like the Satellaview.

I have a DSi, so if there's anything I can do to help, let me know.

Like the article suggests, probably good idea to assume Wii Shop support could also be coming to an end.
Though from the sounds of it, only access to DSi Shop from a DSi is being closed. Access from a 3DS should remain available?

Did any DS games have add-on content from the DSi shop? I don't think so but if so that would need preservation in addition to apps.

Yes, only access to the DSi Shop is closing, DSiWare games in the 3DS eShop will be still available. No DS games used add-on content from the DSi Shop.

However, there are some DSiWare that aren't available via 3DS that are via DSi. For the US and probably Europe, these are:

  • Asphalt IV
  • Flipnote Studio
  • Let's Golf
  • Nintendo DSi Browser
  • Oregon Trail
  • Real Soccer 2009
  • Real Soccer 2010
  • SUDOKU MASTER
  • SUDOKU SENSEI
  • Sudoku Student
(Source)

And for Japan:
(Source)

I have been unable to find the equivalent pages on a European Nintendo, Chinese iQue or Korean Nintendo site.

I haven't checked but I thought the Domo-kun series (originally a single GBA minigame collection that got split for western release) and the Earthworm Jim port were DSi-exclusives?

For posterity's sake... check out iQue's DSiWare. A bizarre land Dr. Mario and Metal Torrent are the library's highlights? Take your pick.

This grim notice suggests its store already closed on November 4th, 2016.

Since iQue 3DS XL never had an eShop, it's unlikely 3DS could've played them either.
