How do I merge multiple roms FDS game?

Post by popolini » 09 Jan 2019 04:47

Hello.
First, read the link below.
https://github.com/SourMesen/Mesen/issues/537

multiple rom games list (6 games) - All are licensed games.
Famicom Tantei Club Part II - Ushiro ni Tatsu Shoujo
Time Twist - Rekishi no Katasumi de...
Tantei Jinguuji Saburou - Kiken na Futari
Famicom Tantei Club - Kieta Koukeisha
Famicom Mukashibanashi - Yuuyuuki
Famicom Mukashibanashi - Shin Onigashima

These games consist of two disk. (It does not mean A side B side.)
e.g)
Famicom Tantei Club Part II - Ushiro ni Tatsu Shoujo - Zenpen (Japan).fds 128kb (First part)
Famicom Tantei Club Part II - Ushiro ni Tatsu Shoujo - Kouhen (Japan).fds 128kb (Last part)
Currently I have these two ROM files, and the status of the rom files is also good.

Most FDS emulators do not support multi-rom games. Disks insertion is not possible.
Developers also do not want to support this.
So I want to merge the two FDS files.
However, I do not know about programming.
Merged ROM files being shared on the Internet are bad rom files.
How do I merge two FDS rom files?

If you're on Windows, I believe you can do "copy /b file1.fds+file2.fds fullfile.fds" in the command line, where file1 and file2 are the two parts. If you're on macOS or Linux you can use the cat command.

For those who see this post> Do not lengthen the file name. If the file name is long, shorten the file name. (All related files)
e.g) Famicom Tantei Club Part II - Ushiro ni Tatsu Shoujo - Kouhen (Japan).fds → 2.fds or kouhen.fds
and the final merged file should also have a short name. e.g) 3.fds or zenkou.fds

Thanks very much. Buddybenj

I tried it and it worked fine.
Thank you.
