Are you guys sure that the chip markings are MX23LXXX06? Just making sure the PCBs looks the same isn't enough for our use case here.

I came across with a similar case:

http://datomatic.no-intro.org/?page=sho ... =23&n=2074

Dumped this cart and it didn't matched the scene release, so i searched for the scene release and checked for the differences and the difference is a couple of bytes at the end of the file (offset 01FFFF00)

My dump:

rom ( name spider_man_m_bx3p00.gba size 33554432 crc 8ef2d533 md5 ffa065705890078d4c4145376579348f sha1 37c0df2ee7f1adf3348e8a05ba85666572ef3100 )

FE FF 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

Scene dump:

rom ( name rs-smpe.gba size 33554432 crc d732e52d md5 9e19a3fa1d458c3e8be8bd6103937473 sha1 5bf33c1f0fd50f268ed5941d3246cfad1893ef89 )

80 FF 80 FF 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

After way more than 100 dumps only 4 didn´t match the DB:

http://datomatic.no-intro.org/?page=sho ... =23&n=2074 (different bytes)
http://datomatic.no-intro.org/?page=sho ... =23&n=2196 (different bytes)
http://datomatic.no-intro.org/?page=sho ... =23&n=0143 (dumping program detected and dumped a 2Mb ROM instead of 4Mb)
http://datomatic.no-intro.org/?page=sho ... =23&n=0853 (dumping program detected and dumped a 2Mb ROM instead of 4Mb)

I dumped all of them on 3 different Nintendo DS and all the dumps were equal...

Any thoughts on this?!...

Interesting. It can't be coincidence that the scene release was provided by Rising Sun just like "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" and that both have the exact same difference at the exact same offset (see viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2560&start=0#p14488). I'm really beginning to think that the differences in the resulting dump has something to do with the dumper/software used. It would probably be wise to the check a few more Rising Sun releases for similar differences, because there is without a doubt a pattern...

I bought a sealed copy of this game and dumped it.

The resulting hashes were the same as my previous dumps:
