Piko Interactive games

Post by santiagocvrt » 14 Jul 2017 03:02

I don't know if this was ever discussed here, but a company called Piko Interactive is licencing and releasing a bunch of new Atari Jaguar, NES, SNES, SMD, GBC and GBA games, mostly homebrew or protos that they're finishing up.

It'd be great to have these games dumped onto no-intro. Some of the current no-intro roms marked as "Proto" could be renamed to a final stable release.

Forgive me for my bad english (I'm Argentinian) and if this topic was discussed previously.

If they ever did get added, I wouldn't rename the "proto" since that is the known state during its original development and any "finishing" work is done many years later (not to mention we don't know if it's from the original developers or not).

Some of the games have been hacked to make them (somewhat) playable. The hacking is likely done by Piko himself (or he hired someone to do it).

Really, I would classify these games as being more like ROM hacks and repros rather than being proper releases.

They are going to release 40 Winks funded via Kickstarter. We got a prototype of this game in 2008

but it was a PAL multilanguage version. Now Piko won't simply release this ROM, but instead they got their own builds. They unearthed an NTSC version with no language option as well as the English-Spanish-Italian version we got but also this one appears to have some minor differences:

I hope we will see both of these in untouched versions.
